Busy weekend for The Big Cheese Photography…

We’ve just uploaded a small selection of images from a few assignments that we covered over the last few days.

The February Connecting Biz meeting was a fantastic success at Highfield Park Hotel, the great De Vere venue in Heckfield. Over 100 business people participated in the popular network lunch meeting.

Saturday: We were in the West Quay shopping centre, Southampton, for the official opening of the new Auntie Anne’s Pretzel store. Loads of lovely pretzels were eaten!!

Sunday: We were at the British Heart Foundation Knebworth Park Jog. A very brisk winter day, but that didn’t stop hundreds running the 5 or 10k to raise thousands for the charity.

Loads more assignments coming up!!

Olympic Torch In Basingstoke

The Olympic torch made its way through Basingstoke today.

It’s Your Day Photography was at the final stretch to capture the moment as Basingstoke’s Margie Doherty carried the flame along Winchester Road, in Basingstoke

Thousands of people packed the streets to see the torch being carried by the seven lucky torchbearers who carried the torch from the bottom of New Road near Eastrop roundabout, up the hill to the Triumphal Gates, along London Street past the Willis Museum, down along Winchester Street and then onto Winchester Road, travelling past the Camrose Ground finally finishing at the Brighton Hill roundabout.

The atmosphere at the “Kiss point” by Lister Road, Basingstoke, was electric as Margie Doherty took the flame and started to jog along to the cheering crowds.

See The Basingstoke Gazette for a seven page special Torch supplement.

Race For Life 2012

Race For Life, Basingstoke.

I spent the evening photographing the 2012 Basingstoke Race For Life charity event organised by Cancer Research UK.

Hundreds of women came together in a common cause to raise much needed cash for the cancer charity.

Spirits were high and thankfully the rain held off to ensure that a fun evening was had by all.

I managed to take hundreds of photographs for the Basingstoke Gazette for a special feature that will be appearing in next Thursday’s edition of the newspaper.

Exciting weekend and week so far… Packed with events

I’ve been very busy over the last few days covering so many events, from charity fun runs to festivals and school photographs.

Hook fun run was a great event last weekend… I took loads of photographs and some appeared in the local Basingstoke Gazette

Sport also figured in my diary with some excellent cricket matches… Some had better days than others!!

I was also asked to photograph the A Place To Be Proud Of Awards 2012, it was a great evening organised by Destination Basingstoke and hosted by Festival Place Shopping Centre.

After a total refurbishment the brand new eight lane athletics track at Down Grange, Basingstoke is to hold its first meeting this coming  weekend. I went down to one of the club practice sessions to get some pre pics for the Basingstoke Gazette, see yesterday’s back page for the full story.

Tim Henman was guest of honour at Odiham Tennis club to open their new court. He put some very lucky youngsters through their paces and stayed all evening to chat and sign autographs, a thoroughly nice chap!!

The Olympic mascot Wenlock came to Macdonalds drive through at Basingstoke leisure park, it caused quite a stir and children enjoyed building up rainbow power to get the mascots to the Olympics!

Another week is over, but I’ve still got more work to do, the French Ambassador beckons tomorrow, so I need to make sure all my photographic equipment is ready and charged!!

I’m so lucky…

I spent the day rushing around North Hampshire for the Basingstoke Gazette, taking photographs of some of the many events that were on, including Maple Ridge school May Fair, a couple of cricket matches and also an open day at The Bluebell’s, North Waltham.

The Bluebells is a unique holiday home offering respite breaks in the Hampshire countryside, 365 days a year, to the families of children with serious, life-limiting or life-threatening medical conditions.

I left feeling very fortunate and humbled, I am lucky enough to have three children whose only real problems are that they sometimes don’t make their beds or tidy their rooms, or have to be told a million times to sit up at the table for tea! Hhow lucky I am I thought that these are the worst issues that I have to deal with.

The Bluebell’s is an amazing sanctuary for families to recharge their batteries enabling them to cope with the immense stresses and strains of daily living.  The staff and volunteers are amazing, but they have a daily uphill battle to raise funds to enable the home to remain open for all the families that so desperately need their unique service.

Basingstoke’s Thornycroft Festival of Transport

Basingstoke’s Thornycroft Festival of Transport was a resounding success today. War Memorial Park in Basingstoke was positively heaving with thousands of people and families who had flocked to see over 900 displays, ranging from vintage, strange to very expensive auto-mobiles.

It’s Your Day Photography was taking photographs for The Basingstoke Gazette, and a special feature will appear in this coming Thursday’s edition.

A rare few days off!

Having a very rare day off today!
The weekend was spent meeting old friends up north and going down memory lane with Sarah.
Tomorrow will be back normal and a busy day grafting!!!! I can’t complain working for myself gives me the flexibility to work hard and take time out when I want to.
